ANSI/AF&PA - Special Design Provisions for Wind and Seismic (SDPWS) Standard, 2008 Edition, with Commentary covers materials, design, and construction of wood members, fasteners, and assemblies to resist wind and seismic forces. Engineered design of wood structures to resist wind or seismic forces is either by allowable stress design (ASD); or load and resistance factor design (LRFD). The most notable new provisions of the 2008 SDPWS include criteria for wood structural panels designed to resist combined shear and uplift from wind. Criteria for proportioning, design, and detailing of engineered wood systems, members, and connections in lateral force resisting systems is provided. Nominal shear capacities of diaphragms and shear walls are provided for reference assemblies. Provisions of the SDPWS are generally consistent with provisions of the International Building Code (IBC), the NEHRP Recommended Provisions for Seismic Regulations for New Buildings (FEMA 368), as well as recommendations in current design standards or guidelines such as ASCE-7.

Electronic documents whether downloadable or CD/DVD are non-refundable.
