About Course

Glued Laminated Timber, or simply “glulam,” has been used in wood construction for decades. With the addition of tall mass timber construction types in the 2021 International Building Code, glulam members can be used in new and exciting ways in addition to traditional applications of the product. This panel discussion will consist of remarks from three experts, AWC’s Lori Koch will be joined by Robert Kuserk of APA – The Engineered Wood Association and Liz Connor from Unalam. Together, they will provide background, structural design requirements, design aids, fire design details, production information, and answer all your glulam related questions! This program will consist of an extended Q&A session, so we encourage attendees to come ready with questions!

Learning Objectives:

  1. Define appropriate glulam design standards in compliance with 2018 IBC and 2018 NDS
  2. Recall production details of glulam and implications on design
  3. Locate design aids available for glulam
  4. Identify stock and custom options for specifying glulam and how to specify both

Funding provided in part by the Softwood Lumber Board.
