About Course

Green Standards are relying more on a product’s environmental impacts, especially embodied carbon and Global Warming Potential (GWP). An understanding of Life Cycle Assessment and Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) is needed to specify, procure, and use the best products. This webinar will provide a basic introduction to LCA and EPDs through discussion of the process of AWC’s newly published EPDs.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Learn what Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is and how it is used to develop Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs).
  2. Learn about EPDs developed by the American Wood Council and the Canadian Wood Council.
  3. Understand the content and results that are published in EPDs.
  4. Discuss the scope, purpose, and limitations of EPDs.

Funding provided in part by the Softwood Lumber Board.
