Special inspection is not a new term to the building code and is included in the 2012 and 2015 versions of International Code Council’s (ICC) International Building Code (IBC), Chapter 17 which is titled Structural Tests and Special Inspections. Special inspection provides a quality control measure intended to ensure that certain critical features are incorporated into a structure and are constructed properly.
